In order to prepare the Implementation Plan for the UNDP/GEF Yellow Sea project, two regional technical meetings were organised: the First Regional Technical Meeting in Beijing, China, 14-16 December 2004, and the Second Regional Technical Meeting in Ansan, Korea, 3-5 March 2005.

As 4 years had passed since the approval of the project by the GEF Council, there have been a lot things of changes in the region, and there is a strong need to review the situation in the region, and make necessary modification in the approved Project Document.
The experts and
governmental officers were invited to participate in the regional technical
meetings. The meetings reviewed, modified and agreed on the following
elements in the Implementation Plan of the project:
(i) the project structure for the management and implementation of the project, including both national and regional levels;
(ii) the project activities and expected outcomes and outputs in the five identified project components;
(iii) the project budget;
(iv) the project workplan; and
(v) project monitoring and evaluation
The two regional
technical meetings successfully initiated the implementation of the project,
and created a friendly co-operative environment among the participating
countries.
