  • The Youth Programme 2008 was held successfully in Buan, ROK, 19-21 August 2008. Twenty middle/high-school students attended the Programme from the Yellow Sea’s coastal provinces and cities: ten students from China and ten students from ROK.     • The World Aquaculture Society (WAS) had their annual meeting in BEXCO, Busan City, Republic of Korea, 20-23 May 2008, attended by more than a thousand people from 95 countries around the world. During the meeting, YSLME project organised a special session on the Friday morning, chaired by Dr. Mark Walton and Dr. In Kwon Jang, titled “Reducing the environmental impacts of mariculture in the Yellow Sea”.     • Training course on “Capacity Building & Expert Exchange Programme 2008 for Analysis of Organics” was supported by the UNDP/GEF Yellow Sea Project Management Office and held at the International Atomic Energy Agency, Marine Environmental Laboratories(IAEA-MEL) in Monaco from 2nd to 6th June 2008.     • Following the exchange of project information and the discussion of areas and mechanism for cooperation in the promotion and protection of the marine and coastal environments of the Yellow Sea, the PMO and Myungji University have agreed to join in a "Yellow Sea Environment Partnership". The MOU (Memorandum Of Understanding) between the project and Myongji university on collaboration to promote the conservation and sustainable use of marine and coastal resources of the Yellow Sea was signed on 19th June 2007. Following the exchange of information and discussing potential area and mechanisms for co-operation in protection of marine and coastal environment in the Yellow Sea, the YSLME PMO and the NOWPAP RCU agreed to form the "Yellow Sea Environment Partnership" for effective co-operation in the protection of the marine and coastal environment, and sustainable use of marine and coastal resources in the Yellow Sea.
