as Yellow Sea Partnership for protection of marine and coastal environment in
the Yellow Sea was endorsed on 24 May 2007. Following the exchange of

Meeting took place in Yantai, China, 17-20 May 2005.

- The First
RWG-E Meeting was held in Goeje, Korea, 10-13 May 2005, at KORDI’s South
Sea Institute. Dr. Yoo Sinjae chaired the Meeting, and guided all
members and observers to achieve the objectives of the Meeting.

- The RWG-P meeting discussed and agreed on identifying
pollution-related problems of the Yellow Sea, the types of information
to support the identified problems, the format of the information to
collect, and proposed activities to gather additional required data.
|
|
 |
- The RWG-F discussed the immediate activities required to obtain data,
the methodology for the calculation of costs for these activities, and
developed a work-plan for 2005 & 2006.
|
|
 |
- Over the course of the four days, the RWG-B reviewed the current state
of knowledge on Biodiversity in the Yellow Sea, discussing the data and
information requirements of the Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA)
with respect to their component..

 |
- A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between YSLME and the
WWF/KORDI/KEI Yellow Sea Eco-region Planning Project (YSEPP) to
co-operate and co-ordinate relevant activities in protection marine
biodiversity in the Yellow Sea.

 |
- A high-level Official Launching Ceremony for UNDP/GEF Yellow Sea
project was held in Seoul, R. Korea on 7 March 2005, with participation
of high-level governmental officials, and about 100 participants from
the participating countries and relevant UN organisations.
|
|
 |
- First Meeting of the Project Steering Committee for the UNDP/GEF
Yellow Sea project was completed successfully in Seoul, R. Korea, 7-8
March 2005. The meeting approved the Implementation Plan of the project,
including the project structure, project activities, project budget and
workplan.

|
 |
- The revised implementation plan for YSLME project was reviewed,
modified and agreed upon during the 2nd Regional Technical Meeting,
organised in Ansan, R. Korea, 3-5 March 2005. A recommendation was
prepared to be submitted to the Project Steering Committee for approval.
About 40 participants from the participating countries and relevant UN
agencies attended the meeting.
