Global Village of Beijing: Welcome to the green olympics and protect the Yellow Sea surrounding us: Costal community education and public participation

The small Grants Programme was established to invite more participation and build the capacities of stakeholders, especially local communities. The Programme in 2006 focused on encouraging and educating local communities of the Yellow Sea's coastal area to facilitate marine conservation efforts. As one of the winning proposal, the GVB(Global Village of Beijing)'s project, "Welcome to the green olympics and protect the Yellow Sea surrounding us: Costal community education and public participation", is implementing the series of proposed activities.

- Built a web site about the project http://www.yellowsea.ngo.cn
- Produced the public awareness items like poster, display board, brochure, fans
- Organized the community in Qingdao with a seminar  for local residents, students concerning about marine environment.
- Held an exhibition with board display about marine environment
- Visited the museum on marine biological specimen in the China Marine Institute
