XIAN, CHINA, 19 NOVEMBER, 2009. The future of the Yellow Sea now looks brighter after the Peoples Republic of China and Republic of Korea reached agreement on the environmental management needed to revitalise the sea as detailed in the Strategic Action Programme (SAP) developed under the UNDP/GEF Yellow Sea Large Marine Ecosystem Project (YSLME).

YSLME News

 

The Yellow Sea Project co-hosts the third annual Korea Model United Nations (KMUN) in February 2010 with the Division of International Studies, Korea University and with the Representation in ROK for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. A number of college and high-school students will attend the meeting. It is expected that the students will actively exchange their views on the global issues and develop their skills that would be useful throughout their lives: research, writing, public speaking, problem solving, consensus building, and co-operation.

 

2010 NOWPAP ICC and Workshop in Hirado
With the kind financial support offered by the Japanese government, NOWPAP is going to organize its 2010 International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) and Workshop on Marine Litter Management in Hirado City (Japan) from 26 to 28 March 2010.

14th NOWPAP Intergovernmental Meeting
The 14th NOWPAP Intergovernmental Meeting was held from 8 to 10 December 2009 in Toyama, Japan. Representatives of NOWPAP member states (China, Japan, Republic of Korea and Russian Federation) participated in this annual meeting. Representatives from UNEP and from NOWPAP partners (COBSEA, PICES, and YSLME) also attended the meeting.
