Project Management Office (PMO)


The PMO will provide a coordination and management structure for the development and implementation of the Yellow Sea LME Project in accordance with the rules and procedures of UNDP/GEF, based on directions provided by the Project Steering Committee. The PMO is also responsible for facilitating regional integration and synthesis.

Yihang Jiang, the Project Manager, trained as physical oceanographer in the Ocean University of China. After served in the State Oceanic Administration, China as the Deputy Director of Ocean Survey Division, he joined the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO. He worked in the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris from 1988-1993. He joined in the establishment of the IOC Regional Office for WESTPAC in Bangkok, and was the first staff of the office. In 1998, he transferred from UNESCO to UNEP, and worked as Senior Expert in the East Asian Seas Regional Co-ordinating Unit (EAS/RCU), and the UNEP/GEF South China Sea project.

Sungjun was conferred a Master’s degree in International Management, specializing in management, finance and accounting, and has wide knowledge of finance, economy, and business management. Working globally with various companies, Sungjun has functioned as branch representative, director, and General Manager in his past posts giving him an extensive set of business skills to combat his financial opponents, and win at tennis.

Gyounghee Kim, an AICPA, has developed solid knowledge in accounting, business planning and management skills through accounting firms in the U.S. and Korea. Prior to working at PMO, she worked as an audit staff assisting in audit and due diligence engagements in Korea, and was responsible for various accounting and tax engagements in the U.S. In addition, her prior experiences as an editor of an IT industry magazine is an asset, specifically in performing her administration work. She brings her experience and expertise in practicing finance and administration duties at the PMO. Gyoung Hee believe it will be a priceless experience to share the U.N. mission and to get involved in implementation of its one of projects. She holds an MBA with an emphasis on Accounting and M. Ed.-Bilingual Ed./TESL. from University of Central Oklahoma in the U.S.
